The holidays are already the most wonderful time of the year, so why not marry the two celebrations to create one unforgettable day!
For this holiday inspired photo shoot, we teamed up with Keith and Melissa Russell from Keith and Melissa Photography, Maria Montgomery a bridal curator with Build-A-Bride, Geno’s Formal Affair, Bryant’s Rent All, Stephanie Trimble & Madisyn Ruebusch with Hair Nation Salon for hair and makeup, and my favorite vendor of all (mostly because he’s my husband) Stephen Fightmaster with TurnKey Memories for floral design.
The Venue
The best part about choosing a wedding during holiday time is the fact that most venues are already decorated inside and out! Which saves you time and money on decor. Mustard Seed Hill is no exception! If you drove by Millersburg this past December you couldn’t have missed our winter light display with a 30-foot dazzling ribbon tree, a 14-foot twinkling ornament to walk through, Santa’s sleigh, and more Christmas light’s than Clark Griswold’s front yard.

However, the Christmas cheer was not limited to the outside of our venue alone. The holiday decorations continued inside the Allen House and were just as equally breathtaking. The talented team at Corman’s Marketplace located in Lexington, KY designed and decorated every room to perfection.

The Decor
Holiday inspired decor can be breathtakingly simple with candles and greenery or ridiculously extravagant with bold reds and gold. For our shoot we chose to let the venue’s holiday decorations shine while accenting them with a vibrant ocean blue, navy, and gold with hints of burgundy. Who says plateware should be boring and white? I am in love with this gorgeous vintage inspired tablescape from Bryant’s Rent All.

The Dress
I absolutely loved working with Maria Montgomery, a bridal curator with Build a Bride. If you are unfamiliar with Build a Bride, it has to be one of the coolest concepts for brides today. You start with a base dress and are able to customize the design with premade pieces, so you can really let your personality shine through your dress and get exactly what you envisioned! Pairing the dress with this simple faux fur wrap adds to the coziness of the season.

The Suits
The team at Geno’s formal affair curated the looks for these gents. The groom was styled with a classic navy bow tie, cuff links, and cognac colored shoes. While his best man’s suit included a pop of color to match the wedding party.
The Flowers
As I mentioned, I’m a little bias about our floral designer mainly because I’m married to him. However, when the holidays are in full effect the floral is best kept simple. With these two bouquets; we wanted to represent how beautiful the classic Christmas colors can be and with the other we wanted to add some simple drama with the deep reds and dark blues.

During the shoot, Melissa made a comment that really stuck out to me. This isn’t an exact quote, but the gist of her statement was something like this:
The detail shots tend to be some of the most important photos for the bride and groom and typically they don’t even know they are being taken. While the photos turn out as pretty pictures to you and me, they represent all the decisions that the couple has been planning and scrutinizing over for months. Now all those small details have come together in one cherished picture that represents the couple’s special day. Here are some of my favorite detail shots that Keith and Melissa captured.
In case you are wondering… they are mustard seeds!
